Home Loan Blog

It has been an interesting few weeks since the Banking Royal Commission handed down its report and we are disappointed by the recommendations but despite some of the negativity and the impact it will have on mortgage brokers, what it has done has started a conversation.  Sure, some people will have never used a mortgage broker and have no idea what we do or what service and support we offer.
But the post-Royal Commission dialogue has changed that and it has identified that getting a loan is a multi-faceted process and can be very complex even in the simplest of circumstances.  The reason it can be complex is because it offers choice, diversity, and competition – all good things – but because of these elements, it requires a purchaser/borrower to be educated.
Gone are the days (well hopefully post Royal Commission!) where the 4 big banks hold all the cards and you are offered very little choice.  Choice is good because there is no “ONE SIZE FITS ALL” loan product.  A broker has access to multiple products with multiple lenders, so we can find the right solution for you – our client.

Education is important in everything we do at The Property Education Company – even more so when buying property.  It’s great to educate yourself to avoid making bad decisions.
We love people asking “dumb” questions whenever you are on the property buying expedition.  The more I speak to people, the more I realise that it can be a daunting experience to buy your first or next property.  It is not something that is taught in schools, TAFE or university, but it is one of the biggest and most important processes you will ever embark upon.  It is a bit like being a parent – most jobs require some level of training or qualifications, but anyone can rock up and be a parent without any training.  Same with buying a property – most of us have no training before we set out on the journey – and this can lead to big mistakes. If you have already purchased,  I am sure there are things you wished you knew before you started out.  Please share your learning with me by replying here.
So, if like many of our clients you would like to:

  • Learn more
  • Feel confident about buying
  • Understand what is involved
  • Hear other stories; and
  • Take the leap of faith to purchase

I would love to help you, but in the meantime, here are 3 ways to get you started:

  1. Download a copy of our Houseviewing Checklist here – this is a helpful tool to use when inspecting property
  2. Learn from our Successful Female Property Buyers – Case Studies eBook – some of our clients share their property story – all have a different tale to tell
  3. Make a time to chat with me about your situation here

We aim to teach you everything we know to help you on your way 🙂

As always, if I can be of any assistance to you, please call me on 0412 709 200.

With thanks,
P.S. As a way to help “teach” you about property, we are about to launch our Podcast series “Property for Scaredy Cats” which we are very excited about and we think will help you take the next steps towards property ownership. Watch your Inbox for the details!
