FAST AND FRUGAL FEBRUARY
AND WORKSHOP
After this long and glorious Aussie summer, it’s time to get focused on your finances and what you want to achieve this year.
Are you buying a new home, a new investment property or wanting to renovate? Well it could be time to start reigning in your spending and what better way to focus than calling it Frugal February. I’m also doing Feb Fast (where one abstains from alcohol) so February is a very lean month for me. My best savings tips will never include items like being forced to making your own bread, but here are some sensible tips for encouraging your thriftiness.
Following the success of the Spark Joy concept in cleaning “Marie Kondo (2011)” we can apply it to our own spending by reviewing a few purchases made over the last 12 months. Take a highlighter pen to your credit card statements or direct debits and note how many of these actually Spark Joy in you now. Consider whether it was your smashed avo on toast or a new sheet set, looking at it now, did it actually Spark Joy in you? If not, how about starting to live without these things and see how much you can save and put towards your current or new home.
This is a fantastic tool to use for reviewing all items in your cupboards as well as helping you declutter.
WORKSHOP – FEBRUARY 28
To help your next purchase, we are having a How to Buy A Property in 2017 workshop on Tuesday evening, February 28 from 6.00pm – 9.30pm. As well as a lovely dinner, you will learn lots of practical tools to help you buy. We have had numerous people buy a property following our last event in November including one where the valuation came in over 15% higher than the purchase price – a very rare but wonderful achievement.
